We have teamed up with a few orchards around the state to provide you with quality hard cider that is pressed from New Mexico apples, whenever available. Weather conditions in New Mexico can be hard to predict- but when conditions are right and apples are available, we are committed to sourcing our apples from within the state.
Farmer Monte's Hard Cider- Perfect simplicity. Our hard apple cider is nothing more than a journey of simplicity. Organic apples harvested ripe, milled and pressed into a thick stream of almost amber honey. The leftover fruit pomace leaves immediately to feed our hungry pigs. Within the fresh cider, the yeast cells start going to work and turn all of the apple’s sugars into CO2 and alcohol. And just like that, with no brewing, cooking or distilling, you have hard apple cider. With one sip you are reminded of green apples and fresh cut grass.
The Cider Different is a still, unfiltered, artisanal hard cider combining the sweet and tart flavors of the apples with a delicate floral aroma to create a complex yet balanced taste. Three or more varieties of apples are pressed into each batch and fermented slowly using an authentic English cider yeast.

New Mexico is a state located in the southwest and western regions of the United States. New Mexico is also usually considered one of the Mountain States. New Mexico is the 5th most extensive, the 36th most populous, and the 6th least densely populated of the 50 United States. Inhabited by indigenous peoples of the Americas for many centuries before European exploration, New Mexico was subsequently part of the Imperial Spanish viceroyalty of New Spain, then part ofMexico, and a U.S. territory before attaining statehood. Among U.S. states, New Mexico has the highest percentage ofHispanics, including descendants of Spanish colonists and recent immigrants from Latin America. It also has the second-highest percentage of Native Americans after Alaska, and the fourth-highest total number of Native Americans after California,Oklahoma, and Arizona. The tribes in the state consist of mostly Navajo and Pueblo peoples. As a result, the demographics and culture of the state are unique for their strong Hispanic and Native-American influences, both of which are reflected in the state flag. The red and gold colors of the New Mexico flag are taken from the flag of Spain, along with the ancient sun symbol of theZia, a Pueblo-related tribe. While not usually noted for the number of its apple orchards, six apple cidermakers opened to take advantage of what excellent apples the state does have to offer.

Skarsgard Farms- began when my great-granddad, Tollef Skarsgard, immigrated from Norway in 1906. After jumping off the boat, Tollef learned English and got an education. The third thing he did, broke ground on a farm in Makoti, North Dakota. That was in the spring of 1912. Since then, four generations of Skarsgards have kept the farm in production and the fields green for over 100 seasons. Reflecting back, I feel humble knowing how much hard work went into making this farm persevere over the decades.

Santa Fe Cider Works- Just as a good wine shouldn't taste like grape juice, a good hard cider shouldn't taste like apple juice! Santa Fe Cider Works makes cider for the elevated palate. We press local apples on site to create our ciders and leave the finished product unfiltered. Filtering removes flavor components which add complexity to both the aroma and flavor of the cider. You won’t find any mass production or shortcuts here. We would never add artificial flavors or coloring to our ciders, and we only use fresh pressed juice. Not to be redundant, but can you imagine drinking a wine made from “grape juice concentrate”? All our ciders are handcrafted in small batches, and we even hand label each bottle with the batch number and the date we pressed the apples. We believe apples are good enough on their own and after fermentation with an authentic English cider yeast – they’re even better! We keep it simple and traditional so the apples can shine through in every sip.
